Virtual Sports Banquets were held, May 19-20, to recognize all varsity student athletes, during the 2019-2020 season. In accordance with Miami-Dade County guidelines and CDC recommendations, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy suspended on-site learning and all extracurricular activities on March 17, immediately transitioning to remote and virtual instruction, through the end of the 2019-2020 academic year. Students and teachers, alike, embraced the quick change, a testament to the community’s adaptability, resilience and strength. Thanks to the generous support of the yard sign fundraiser, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy was able to sponsor 410 meals for healthcare heroes, through Feed the Frontlines Miami, throughout the month of May.  Meals were delivered to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Memorial West Hospital, Coral Gables Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Mount Sinai in Aventura, and Mount Sinai in Hialeah.   

Congratulations to seniors Sophia McMillan and Isabel Vega who both received an Honorable Mention in the Science and Vocational Technical Categories, respectively, at the Silver Knight Virtual Awards Ceremony, May 28, sponsored by the Miami Herald.  The Silver Knight Award recognizes academic achievement, leadership and service in the community. Our Lady of Lourdes Academy hosted its first #Bobcats4Bocats Virtual Race, April 29 - May 6 - a virtual 5K Run/Walk/Bike Ride with a unique twist, where participants completed an additional mile, totaling 4.1 miles, in support of our Bobcats.  With more than 900 registered participants, the virtual event raised over $22K for the school’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, aimed at providing assistance to those students experiencing financial hardships as a [...]

On March 10, the school community at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage, with a panel discussion featuring esteemed guests, who have received local, national and global acclaim in their respective industries: Former Rep. On Feb. 28, the Varsity Soccer Team won the 6A Soccer State Championship, defeating Venice, 2-1. It is the school’s second soccer state title in three years. The team was cheered on by more than 500 fans, including six fan buses from school, who traveled to DeLand, to “white out” the stadium. To celebrate the month of the rosary, the school community gathered in the gymnasium, on Oct. 8, to share one of the most beautiful annual traditions at our school - the Living Rosary, where students, faculty and staff collectively ask for our Blessed Mother’s prayerful intercession.  Thank you to our Campus Ministry Team for organizing this beautiful prayer service.

On Aug. 19, during the first Mass of the school year, our new president, Sister Carmen Teresa Fernandez, IHM ‘85, was installed into office, receiving a standing ovation from all in attendance. During the Mass, our Bobcats were inspired to live fearlessly, as they grow in faith to become the best versions of themselves.
