Open Admission Policy
Our Lady of Lourdes Academy has an open admission policy. In accordance with the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Miami, no person, on the grounds of race, color, disability or national origin, is excluded or otherwise subjected to discrimination in the receiving of services. Nor does the school discriminate in the hiring, promotion, discharge, pay, fringe benefits, job training, classification, referral and other aspects of employment on the basis of race, color, disability, age, gender, or national origin.
9th Grade Admissions Criteria
A candidate’s acceptance to Our Lady of Lourdes Academy is contingent upon the following:
-
Completion of Online Application
-
Entrance Exam (HSPT)
-
Interview
-
Current School Record
-
School Recommendation Form
- Pastor Recommendation Form
Interview
The admissions process strives to obtain a comprehensive view of each applicant, above and beyond the quantitative assessments and supporting documents, as to maximize her potential for success at our school. The interview component is designed to get to know each applicant on a more personal level, helping our admissions officers gain a better understanding of the student’s interests, values and personal goals. Students will be prompted to schedule a Zoom interview upon submission of the online application. Interviews will not take more than 10 minutes. Applicants need not prepare for nor be nervous about this conversation, but rather embrace the opportunity to introduce herself and share with us the reasons for wanting to attend our school and the contributions she hopes to make.
Accommodations
If your daughter is currently receiving accommodations at her school, she may be eligible to receive testing accommodations on the Entrance Exam. Please reach out to Mrs. Diana I. Ricart ’02 after you submit your daughter’s application, if you would like additional information about testing accommodations. Please note the only accommodation provided on the admissions assessments is extended time.

Please note applications for students wishing to transfer into the 10th or 11th grade are reviewed on a waitlist basis, since they are contingent upon vacancies after our current students’ re-registration process (in the Spring). Please note that we do not accept 12th grade transfers, as students must complete at least two years at OLLA to fulfill school-specific graduation requirements and receive our diploma. Moreover, there are no guarantees of admission, since we have a county-imposed cap that limits our enrollment, and we typically operate at capacity. We generally do not know if/how many spots are available for transfer students until after our current students have undergone the re-registration process in the Spring.
To apply, students must complete an online application, as well as submit transcripts and most recent report card, most recent standardized test scores and a school recommendation form (which will be provided after the application is submitted). Depending on when the transfer application is submitted, it may become necessary to update the applicant’s file with additional report cards. The most current grades should always be made available. Additionally, the student will undergo an interview process with the Admissions Director and/or other members of the school’s Administration. Transfer applicants do NOT have to take the High School Entrance Exam in December.
